Abstract

Reference service is considered one of the main services provided by libraries and information centers, service has evolved like all other functions performed by libraries, after having been depending on the traditional paper-based sources, it has come to rely on electronic databases, and materials available through the Internet. No longer confined to providing bibliographic information, text, or digital data, but exceeded that to allow photo material and audio recordings, and video clips. Hence the importance of this study, which put a proposal to establish a collaborative project of the reference service between Saudi university libraries, which helps the libraries to take advantage of modern technology and the Internet to provide better information services that earns user satisfaction and help them to access information in the fastest time and a wider geographical scope overcoming spatial and temporal constraints and linguistic.
